Does Your Website Make Money?

Well, this is my first article. I have been doing website design since 2002 and you can tell that the way people see it these days is different than 6 years ago.

It is very important to make sure that your website does what is was paid for. It is the same form of advertising as any piece of advertising. Do you know what is the return on your investment?

You can have thousands of people visiting your website but if the only thing they do is hit the BACK button then something has to be done.

So what do you do to increase the return on your investment:

• Get the load off the home page: remove videos or heavy images of the home page. People get turned off if it takes for ever to load the home page
• Bullets, bullets, bullets. People like lists. 3 page well written text .... do you ever read those long pages?
• Put the most important information on the home page, straight to the point.
• Choose the right colors for your website. Yes it is important. I designed a website for a vet clinic and one thing they brought to my attention is not to use pastel colors because people associate those colors with euthanasia. So make sure your designer is on top of the game.

The bar is raised and to do the bare minimum for the customers does not cut it anymore. Demand from your website designer to get on moving and give you an opportunity to have a chance to compete on the web.
